Springfield makes very good products, this is no different. The base is solid, and we'll machined. The mounting holes are straight, but file off any burrs underneath that weren't cleaned off. It's painted with a protective coating, aka a clear coat. I usually sand it off, prime these and paint them a flat black. The paint adheres well, and there is no glare bouncing off them.
